bodyshop sumpah kereeennnn!! Kalau yang paling luar kan green overtone, yang tengah rose overtone, dan yang paling dalem kayaknya gabungan rose dan green overtone, jadi aku paling demen yang itu hahaa.. *demen warna-warni*

Sori ngejawab ya soal golden akoya vs golden south sea. Akoya ukurannya rata-rata 7-8mm dan paling mentok 10mm, sedangkan south sea justru rata-rata 10mm ke atas. Selain itu lusternya akoya itu tajam (kayak gambar yang dikirim Mia), sedangkan south sea lebih satin / soft luster. Mungkin yang lain bisa nambahin lagi..

First of all, different from diamond, there are no generated grading
standard for peals not only in Japan but also in the world.

Mikimoto which is the inventor of cultured pearl made AAA-A grading system. And many of other suppliers follow the grading system that grades pearls as AAA, AA and A.

But as I mentioned above, this is not a generated standard, each suppliers
can decide "what should be AAA, AA, A". Sometimes we experience that AAA of company X? is just AA of company Y.

By the way, Mikimoto's grading system is very strict. And they are the original inventor of cultivating pearl, major farms sell. almost all of the top quality pearls for Mikimoto with respect. Actually, many of pearl suppliers do not know this fact. Therefore, even they believe they could buy "the top" quality, but actually, those pearls are just leftovers after Mikimoto bought the actual top quality pearls.

Then many of AAA on the internet are actually just AA, when we use Mikimoto's standard.

Truly top quality pearls are rare and precious, never sold at low prices.
And not all of suppliers can have.

With respect to Hanadama, there are no defined standard for Hanadama. Originally, Hanadama was a word which means the highest pearls.(If translate word-to-word, Hanadama = Flower Pearl)

The rate of the pearls which are called Hanadama is around 3% of the total
crops.

There is one important thing. Hanadama should not be drilled, treated at
all. Even Hanadama, once it is drilled, it is no longer Hanadama.

Recently, Hanadama Certificate appeared. But Pearl Science Laboratory which issue the certificate is not public appraisal organization, but just a private company. And they set their own "Hanadama grade" which is different from the original meaning mentioned above.

Actually, their Hanadama standard is not strict, but very wide. Truly AAA pearls pass the Laboratory's Hanadama test, of course, but AA and possibly A+ pearls also can pass the test.

Therefore, there are a lot of "Hanadama" on the internet at various prices. If the pearls with Hanadama certificate are in the same quality, the lowest price one is the best selection, but even with Hanadama certificate, qualities are not the same in fact, it is difficult to choose the best one for customers.

I also sell pearls with Hanadama Certificate because many customers want it, but basically truly AAA (high quality pearls) are not sold with the
certificate. Of course Mikimoto never use Hanadama Certificate.

The Laboratory started measuring nacre thickness, people have become thought nacre thickness is very important. Of course it is important, but not all. For example, Mikimoto's AAA necklaces may include the pearls less than 0.4mm in nacre thickness.

Mikimoto's AAA value on "roundness", "strong luster", "pink overtone",
and "seem thick nacre (without measuring the actual thickness)".

As Akoya pearls are basically small, we can not help but say 0.4mm is
"thick" now. When it comes to South-Sea pearls, usually the sickness is more than 1.00mm because basically South-Sea pearls are large.

But the thicker the nacre, the more dull the luster. So you can see South-Sea pearls are not shine like Japanese Akoya. That is why Mikimoto never measure nacre thickness and just focus "seem thick".

Because of the reason I mentioned above, there are few companies which know the fact that Mikimoto buy almost all of the highest quality pearls as well as there are few companies which can buy the same level pearls as Mikimoto.

In Japan, we are one of such suppliers, and can supply at lower price than
Mikimoto. Because we are a small group company and do not use many amount of cost for running. But as I quoted later, Mikimoto level pearls are not sold at normal price because of the preciousness.

If you are looking for truly quality pearls, I am convinced we can help you. Our pearls with Hanadama Certificate are good quality. Mainly AA. But if you are looking for absolutely quality pearls, we recommend AAA.

Wah penjelasannya panjang yah, banyak info bagus disitu. Makasih udah diposting disini.

Tapi aku kurang setuju ya kalau dibilang "the thicker the nacre, the more dull the luster". Kalau South sea pearl lusternya ngga sekinclong Akoya, itu karena jenis kerangnya aja udah beda dan cara budidayanya pun berbeda. Trademark SSP memang lusternya yang soft/satin, tapi ada juga kok yang tajam mirip kayak Akoya (aku pernah punya nih). Mutiara tawar aja yang full nacre bisa menghasilkan luster tinggi yang metallic (my favorite kind of luster). Jadi aku sih tetap berpendapat nacre tebal itu penting ya, dan tanpa mengorbankan luster juga....

Mungkin ke Yokota, bisa dicoba mintain foto produknya di cahaya yang natural, biar lebih enak ngebandinginnya.

Equinnox, iya say udah minta fotonya, dia bilang dikirimin asap, dan harga termasuk clasp $4,000 buat top grade pearl.. nnt aku post minta pendapat lagi yaa.. *sebenernya bit risky kalo ke yokota tapi ada sedikit hal yg bikin aku mau ga mau, rela mencoba beli.

1. kerna inget strand necklace punya tante yg dia beli di jepang puluhan tahun lalu waktu kerja disana, itu mmg cantiiiik dan perasaan kalo lg ditimang aku blum pernah nemuin perasaan kaya gitu kalo lagi nyari2 mutiara di sg, tapi iya di sg aku cuman main2 di unique jewelry atau chomel..

waaah... pada doyannya mutiara high grade yah... aku sih masih maen ama mutiara lokal aja... mutiara lombok. itupun masih mutiara air tawar. belum ke mutiara laut.

Equinnox, wah bacanya ga teliti kmrn, mmg ada yah SSP yg tajem kaya akoya, kmrn beli buat mamah, naksir yg satunya lagi kerna ada diamondnya dikit tapi batal kerna lusternya tajem, jadi sempet ragu dan curiga gitu ahahaha, padahal mmg ada ya ? akhirnya beli yg soft aja deh modelnya biasa..

shinju Kalau mutiara laut yang warna kuning/gold, itu biasanya dari Lombok. Kalau yang warna putih, biasanya dari Ambon. Tapi kalau mutiara tawar (yang kecil2) warna ungu, peach, putih itu semuanya impor dari Cina (pemasok mutiara 90% di dunia). Di Surabaya dulu juga ada ternak mutiara tawar, tapi dari segi kualitas dan kuantitas jauh dibawah Cina, dan sekarang mungkin udah pada bubar. Jadi kalau nemu mutiara tawar, kemungkinannya yah impor dari Cina soalnya dari segi harga udah ngga terkalahkan.

bodyshop, iya ada SSP yang tajam lusternya. Contohnya gambar dibawah ini (SSP ukuran 11mm).. rada ngeblur karena difoto dengan direct sunlight, tapi aslinya sih kilaunya mantap hampir kayak Akoya, apalagi yang rose overtone.
